Tour Overview
Our Highlights of Vietnam tour does what
it says on the tin. Over 12 nights, this trip
covers what we consider to be the very best
of Vietnam’s natural, cultural and historical
destinations – including six UNESCO World
Heritage Sites.
Our tour commences in Hanoi’s romantic Old
Quarter, then goes on to the scenic vistas of
Ninh Binh before cruising around the towering
limestone pillars of Halong Bay. We will then fly
to Da Nang and make the short transfer to the
ancient but beautiful city of Hoi An before taking
a train to the historical capital of Hue. Finally we
will take a flight right in to the hustle and bustle
of Ho Chi Minh City to conclude the trip!
The pace of the tour needs to be quite fast to
enable us to fit in so many highlights, but with
a night spent on board a lovely traditional style
junk on Halong Bay, a full day at leisure in the
karst formations of Ninh Binh and laid-back Hoi
An, and a day exploring the quiet backwaters of
the Mekong Delta, there’s plenty of time to kick
back and relax if that’s your style.
We travel by a combination of plane, boat,
train and private coach to get you from place
to place in the most convenient and efficient
manner possible, helping you make the most
of every day you’ve got to spend in Vietnam.
Day by day
Day 1 Hanoi (D)
Welcome to Vietnam! To kick off your tour you’ll
be getting to grips with Vietnam’s ancient capital:
Hanoi. Many of our customers choose to arrive a
day or two early to get over jet-lag and make the
most of the tour. Whatever you choose, we
will have a member of staff there to meet you on
arrival at Noi Bai International Airport and escort
you the short distance to our hotel.
Our hotel in Hanoi is located bang in the heart of
the city’s old town, surrounded by street food stalls,
markets and cafés, and within a few minutes’ walk
of Hoan Kiem Lake. Tonight, once all members of
the group have arrived, we will venture out into the
city to indulge in an included welcome dinner of
your tour leader’s choice.
* On our Small Group Tours, tour leaders are confirmed
from 6 travellers upwards. Less than 6 confirmed travellers
(minimum 3 ) will have a local guide at every destination.
Day 2 Hanoi (B, L)
Today your local guide will lead you on a tour
through the city, beginning with one of great
museum in the city based on the group’s interests.
You will be likely to visit the Ethnology Museum,
where Vietnam’s diverse minority cultures are
explained in a thoughtful and hands-on manner, or

Literature, Vietnam’s first university, which was
constructed in 1070 and has lovely gardens and
well-preserved traditional architecture.
For lunch, you’ll head to KOTO, meaning ‘Know

as a training program for disadvantaged youth.
Enjoy a delicious meal and learn more about the
students and the activities of the program.
This afternoon you’ll head to the One Pillar Pagoda
one of Vietnam’s most recognizable temples. Next
you’ll head to the complex that contains Ho Chi
Minh’s impressive Stalinist Mausoleum, his private
residence, and the Presidential Palace.
The tour will conclude with a visit to Tran Quoc,
the oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi, in a beautiful
setting by the lake.
Finally, we’ll head to the theatre to see a water
puppet show – a traditional northern Vietnamese
folk art that was developed in the flooded rice
paddies of the Mekong Delta.
